Starts off well, but quickly descends into the author's graphic explorations of the underworld of male homosexual prostitution. Racism and sexual abuse are the major themes. Redemption of the main character through the rebirth of the next generation is the final paragraph. Again, a good start for a book and a poor finish, the repetititous nature of the second half of the book made me just want to skim the novel and say I finished. I hung on instead and wished I had just put the novel down. It is one of the few novels I won't be putting back on the shelf. I think I'll "lose" this one on the subway.
