Robinson Crusoe. Daniel Defoe (Ian Graham) pdf, epub, doc

Robinson Crusoe by Ian Graham is a part of Barron's Graphic Classics. These are books that introduce immortal literary works to children.Published by Barron's Educational Series in 2011.

Audience
Grades 3 to 7 (8 to 12 year olds)

Application
What a great way to introduce the classics using the cartoon style of graphic novels?Reluctant readers will love the illustrations and support of visual cues to understand the text of the story. To reach and differentiate among all classroom learners, using several different versions of this classic would be tons of fun for students. Students could compare and contrast the versions for upper thinking applications. Part of reading instruction of the classics.Would be a fun book for summer school too!

positives
The characters captions and dialogue bubbles could be read as a play!Lots of ideas for sharing this classic. Many students would look at the novel of this classic and think, "no way am I reading that".Just the size of the classic and difficult vocabulary would put off many young readers. However, when presented with this cartoon style filled with action graphics those reluctant readers may just try it.

Cautions:Vocabulary and paraphrasing instead of the original text is not as good for developing vocabulary for advanced readers.
